The driver, identified as Godwin Etute, allegedly murdered the teenager called Tolu Gbadamosi, dumped her by the road side and drove off.

She reported her encounter with Etute to her mom and few of her friends.

It was gathered that on the day of the incident, Etute drove the school bus to pick children to the school with Gbadamosi in the morning.

While only two of them were in the bus as they set out to pick the pupils, he alleged parked the bus by the roadside and attempted to forcefully Be Intimate with the victim inside the school bus.

“When she refused, he grabbed her and tore her underwear, but the girl resisted him. And Etute started beating her,” an eyewitness said.

In anger, Etute allegedly brought out a screw driver and stabbed Tolu. She collapsed and died inside the school bus.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of awards in these databases are restricted to US citizens and permanent residents. Don't waste your money on such services.

The following databases are dedicated to listing scholarships for international students in specific countries. You should also consider searching the free databases of scholarships on the FinAid site, since some of them include scholarships for international students. The FastWeb database, in particular, has good coverage of the awards available for international students.

A word of caution: If a scholarship has an application fee, don't apply. If you have to pay money to get money, it is probably a scam. For more information about scholarship scams, the unclaimed aid myth, and related topics, see the Scholarship Scams section of the FinAid site.

Senate queries Jonathan, Sambo’s N1.3bn food, furniture allowance

Senate Committee on Federal Character and Intergovernmental Affairs has queried the provision of N1.3bn in the 2012 budget allocation, to the State House for food, entertainment and furniture.
The committee described as outrageous the provision which also included the purchase of computers after Presidency officials presented the details of their budget to the committee on Monday.

It wondered why a whopping N500m would be allocated for the purchase of foodstuff alone.
It also raised the alarm over a separate allocation of N293m for refreshment in spite of the provision for food items.
The committee also flayed the provision of N265m for the procurement of computers, which had been captured in the 2011 budget and the N295m for furniture.

Raising some of questions, a member of the committee, Senator Isa Galadu, said, “The huge allocation for food stuff in a country where 70 per cent live below a dollar and 90 per cent live below two dollars per day is out rightly outrageous. I do not understand why you have allocated N293m for refreshment, apart from the food stuff allocation. The people are correct and they are right to show their anger on this.”
Chairman of the committee, Senator Dahiru Kuta, also demanded explanations from the Permanent Secretary at the Presidency, Mr. Tunji Olaopa, on the N265m budget for computers and the N295m for furniture which was for an unspecified residence.

Woman Wins $72 Million But Still Wants To Work

Marcia Adams of College Park, Ga., and her boyfriend went to a convenience store to buy a chocolate candy bar and decided to purchase two Quik Pik lottery tickets. The tickets were bought less than an hour before the drawing, and two days later, she was $72 million richer.

Adams and her boyfriend, whose name has not been released, purchased their tickets at a Chevron Food Mart and had actually forgotten that they had done so. As Adams and her boyfriend were driving to work on Thursday morning, she noticed a billboard along the highway that prompted her to check the lotto tickets, which had been thrown in the vehicle’s center console. Adams’ boyfriend checked the lotto ticket numbers on his cell phone then suddenly began screaming her name. After rechecking the numbers, the couple went to a nearby retailer and checked their tickets yet again. Even though her ticket perfectly matched the winning numbers, Adams still needed more proof.

After lotto officials sanctioned the legitimacy of her winning ticket, 33-year-old Adams was still a disbeliever. It still hasn’t set in, she said. It seems like it’s somebody else besides me.

Now that she finally believes that she won, Adams, a corporate accountant who has been on her job for the last 12 years, doesn’t plan on quitting her job anytime soon. She actually wants to continue working:

I love what I do. I have a purpose.
For her winnings, Adams opted to take the cash option, which leaves her with $52 million. After Uncle Sam takes its just desserts, Adams will still have $33.8 million in mad money.

What does she plan on doing with her newfound wealth?

Adams wants to hire a financial planner in order to stretch her dollars and make savvy money moves. Marrying her boyfriend of seven years and planning their wedding is also on her agenda. Otherwise, Adams mainly wants to focus on her family, particularly her retired parents who are experiencing medical issues.

The only extravagant purchase Adams plans to make is to buy another house:

I’ll probably get another house, only because now, my name is out, she says.

Shocker:Chanel's Spring 2012 Couture Fashion show hold inside airplane in flight

Chanel Spring 2012 Couture Flies High with Airplane Show

If one thing's for certain, it's that Karl Lagerfeld likes to create a world with his runway presentations. So why not take that world to 35,000 feet?

Lagerfeld presented his Chanel Spring 2012 Couture collection inside a glammed-up airplane (Air Chanel, anyone?) on January 24 in Paris—and while it might not have actually taken off, the designer didn’t skimp on the details.

The epic showing came complete with a drinks cart, fake clouds that floated past the windows, and blue carpeting patterned with—what else?—Chanel’s iconic double-C logo.

And while there weren’t exactly overhead bins, the plane was equipped with control dials and a cockpit door, from which Lagerfeld emerged at the end of the 61-look show for his bow.

Keeping with the mile high theme, the clothes, which Horyn said “truly dazzled,” took cues from flight attendant uniforms, though subtly.

Kidnapped American Freed in Nigeria

An American worker kidnapped in Nigeria's oil rich southern
Delta region has been released after being held a week.
The U.S. embassy said Friday the 50-year-old man is in a

During the kidnapping in Nigeria's Warri State, the man's
driver was shot and killed. The suspects then contacted
the man's employer demanding more than $300,000.
There has been no word if a ransom was paid.
Earlier this month, the U.S. State Department issued a
warning to citizens to avoid travel to the Delta region of
Nigeria because of the risk of kidnappings, robberies and
personal attacks. The State Department announced in its
most recent warning that five U.S. citizens were

Suspected to be dead Muhammed Shekau now head of Boko Haram

Abubakar Muhammad Shekau was once thought to have been
killed, but has re-emerged to lead Islamist group Boko Haram
from the shadows as it carries out a bloody onslaught in
northern Nigeria.
Very little is known about Shekau, but this week he
appeared on YouTube, threatening more attacks and saying
Boko Haram was responsible for the January 20 violence
which killed 185 people in Kano in reprisal for the arrest and
torture of its members.
Aged 43, he was born in a farming village also called Shekau
in northeastern Yobe state.
He moved to the nearby city of Maiduguri, Boko Haram’s base,
about a decade ago, according to sources familiar with the
group.
Shekau studied theology under local clerics in the Mafoni area
of Maiduguri and enrolled in a government-run school for
Islamic studies.
He is often shown in photos wearing a keffiyeh and seated
next to an AK-47, his face intense.
A video released on YouTube earlier this month portrayed a
markedly different man compared to earlier images — he
appeared considerably heavier, for example — but a
Western diplomat said “we assessed it was Shekau.”
He was seen as the second-in-command of Boko Haram at
the time of a 2009 uprising put down by a brutal military
assault which left some 800 people dead.
The leader at the time, Mohammed Yusuf, was captured by
soldiers and handed over to police. He was later killed when
police claimed he was trying to escape, though rights groups
have called it a summary execution.
The two were said to have met through a man named
Mamman Nur, thought to be the group’s third-in-command at
the time of the uprising and who authorities labelled the
mastermind of an August suicide attack on UN headquarters
in Abuja that killed 25 people.
Police also claimed Shekau had been killed in the 2009
assault, but he appeared less than a year later in video clips
being circulated in Nigeria. Some say he had been shot in the
leg and went into hiding in Chad and Sudan.
Shekau had been seen by some as more eager to resort to
violence than Yusuf and has having pushed the late leader
into carrying out attacks sooner than he might have liked.
In videos, Shekau also appears far less charismatic than
Yusuf, who rallied youths to his cause by excoriating
corruption and lashing out at authorities in his rousing
speeches.
The voice said to be Shekau in the message posted on
YouTube on Thursday said “we attacked the security
formations because our members were arrested and
tortured. Our women and children have also been arrested.
“They should know that they also have wives and children,”
he said. “We can also abduct them. It is not beyond our
powers.”
In another part of the message, he says, “I enjoy killing
anyone that God commands me to kill the way I enjoy killing
chickens and rams.”....

Breaking News: Supreme Court sacks 5 Governors

The Supreme Court on Friday sacked five state governors whose tenure elapsed in May 29 last year.

The governors are Ibrahim Idris (Kogi), Murtala Nyako (Adamawa), Timipre Sylva (Bayelsa), Aliyu Wamakko (Sokoto) and Liyel Imoke (Cross River). They are all members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The decision was taken by a seven-member panel chaired by Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Dahiru Musdapher.

Other members of the panel are Justices Mahmud Mukhtar, Walter Onnonghen, Chukwuma Ene, Ibrahim Coomasie, Olufunlola Adekeye and Mary Peter-Odili.

The court held that the provisions of that section of the Constitution will stand violated if the tenure of office of the Governors is calculated from their second taking of Oath of Office and the Oath of Allegiance and stated that their tenure started counting from their first Oath of office which they all took after they were declared winners of the April 2007 elections and that they are entitled to four year terms from that date.
The court also rapped the Peoples Democratic party for attempting to abort the hearing of the matter at the court through their preliminary objections filed against all the consolidated appeals. The party had argued that the subject matter of the appeals have become academic and should be dismissed.

While dismissing the PDP’s preliminary objections, the apex court maintained that the matter is of grave constitutional importance whose subject matter is still alive and cannot be truncated on the grounds of mere technicalities.
In countering the decisions of the Federal High Court and that of the Court of Appeal, the apex court asserted that the provision of the law did not envisage an indefinite occupation of office by a Governor and did not also envisage re run elections, left alone one to be won by the same person

The judgment is in an appeal by the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Brig.-Gen. Buba Marwa and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Boko Haram leader, wife killed in 5-hour gunfight , arrest son

Security agents on Tuesday killed Uzairu Abba Abdullahi, a textile merchant suspected to be a leader of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, during a five-hour gun duel.

His pregnant wife, who was at his residence in Hotoro, Nassarawa Local Government Area when the team stormed the building, was also shot dead. After the battle, the security men reportedly arrested one of the late businessman’s sons.

A family source described Abdullahi as a 2002 Mass Communication graduate of Bayero University, Kano, but security sources described him as one of the planners and executors of last Friday’s multiple bomb blasts and attacks on Kano.

Our correspondent gathered that the team that killed him comprised soldiers, policemen and security personnel drawn from other forces. The team reportedly stormed the suburb at about midnight following a tip-off that members of the sect were there in large numbers.

It was learnt that on reaching the house, Abdulllahi and his men opened fire and the team returned fire. A senior security official told our correspondent that the gunfight raged from 12.30am-5.30am.

Our correspondent reports that while the battle lasted, residents were kept awake for hours as guns boomed. The scene of the incident is close to the farm and horse stable of Chief Deinde Fernandez, who is also Garsan Fulanin Kano, a traditional title in the Kano emirate.

A security official said an army officer who was part of the security operatives was shot in the leg. He was said to be the only victim on the side of the security agents.

The source said, “We had trailed this man for some time. We placed surveillance on him as soon as we received a tip-off that he usually conducted himself in a suspicious manner. So, we decided to pick him up.

“Unfortunately, in the course of the exchange of gunfire, he and his wife were killed. But we captured his son alive.

“The order we got from our Oga (higher authorities) was for us to catch him (Abdullahi) alive so he could be useful in our investigation of Friday’s multiple bomb attacks on security forces and innocent Nigerians. Unfortunately, his resistance led to his death.”

Shocker: Fresh Blasts, Gunfire Rock Kano

There appears to be no let up in the Boko Haram onslaught on Kano, with fresh explosions and gunfire reported early Tuesday in an area near a police station in the city.

On Friday, it was the same Kano that bore the brunt of coordinated attacks and shootouts claimed by the Islamic sect, which left at least 185 dead.

According agency reports, some 15 blasts and gunshots were heard coming from the vicinity of a mobile police headquarters on Tuesday morning. Details were not immediately clear, and police were not available for comment.

"I was awoken from sleep by explosions and gunshots coming from the mobile barracks and police station opposite," one resident told the AFP, adding that they had stopped after several minutes.

"It's terrifying ... It's too dangerous to go out, besides there is curfew."

Sporadic gunfire could still be heard after the explosions halted.

A night time curfew is in effect in the wake of Friday's attacks in Kano claimed by Islamist group Boko Haram.

The fresh violence came after police foiled attacks in the city Monday, discovering 10 bomb-laden cars and hundreds of other unexploded devices from the wave of deadly violence last week.

The same day the grim discoveries were made, clerics held prayers for peace after the attacks on Friday.

President Goodluck Jonathan vowed to beef up security as he grapples with a surge in violence by the Islamist sect Boko Haram blamed for the attacks and mounting social discontent.

Kano was left reeling after bombs were set off and gun battles raged in coordinated strikes after Friday prayers that targeted mainly police buildings, including the police headquarters.

Details began to emerge of the mode of the attacks, with police announcing the discovery of large numbers of explosive devices and that at five of the assailants were suicide bombers.

Twenty-nine of the dead were police officers, the state's Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Idris said in a statement, while witness testimony said some of the assailants wore police uniforms.

Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club Closed Over Busted Fridge

It was “grand re-opening, grand closing” for Jay-Z’s 40/40 Club this week. After celebrating a facelift with the likes of Warren Buffett on Wednesday night, Hov’s swanky club was shut down the next day by the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene for health code violations.

However, the cause of the violations (food being stored at improper temperatures, etc) was a faulty fridge that died moments before opening.

Ron Berkowitz, a rep for the club, says one of the refrigerators blew minutes before the health inspector arrived causing the temperature in the fridge to rise. No food from said fridge was served and patrons of Blue Ivy’s dad can look forward to doing their Cupid Shuffle over shrimp cocktail any day now.

Shocker: Nigerian excretes 86 wraps of heroin in US

A Nigerian, Michael Ayodele, has excreted heroin pellets he swallowed while being questioned by federal agents at the Washington Dulles International Airport.

Ayodele of Queens, New York, arrived at Dulles on January 16 on a flight from Zurich, Switzerland, according to a criminal complaint charging him with importing a controlled substance.

According to the The Examiner, Ayodele was referred to Customs and Border Protection agents for a secondary inspection. He told the agents that he was returning from Nigeria, where he had been visiting his family.

The complaint said he(Ayodele) asked to use the bathroom. Agents thought they heard items being dropped into a toilet and learnt that Ayodele was expelling the swallowed heroin pellets, according to the complaint, which was filed in Federal Court in Alexandria.

Authorities said the pellets field-tested positive for heroin.

Ayodele is in custody pending further court proceedings. A detention hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

The pellets weighed about one kilogramme, the complaint said. According to CBP, heroin generally has a street value of about $70,000 per kilogramme.

Officials say drug-smuggling through Dulles is a growing concern, fueled in part by more flights between the airport and high-trafficking nations in Africa and Latin America.

Earlier this month, another man was nabbed after allegedly swallowing about a pound of heroin pellets, according to court documents.

And last week, the leader of an international smuggling ring that targeted the mid-Atlantic by sending heroin in suitcases with couriers who flew into Dulles pleaded guilty. An airport security officer in Ghana has also been charged in connection with the operation.

Other more-creative heroin-smuggling attempts have also been thwarted. More than $315,000 in contraband was found in a traveller’s soccer clothes in December, court documents say.

Nigerian UN peacekeeper killed in Darfur ambush

UN peacekeepers of the joint African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) stand guard on January 16, at the UNAMID headquarters in El-Fasher in North Darfur. One peacekeeper was killed and three wounded on Saturday in an ambush in Sudan's troubled Darfur region, the joint African Union-United Nations Mission to the region (UNAMID) said. (AFP Photo/Ian Timbarlake)

(AFP)--Gunmen ambushed a UN-African Union peacekeeping patrol in Sudan's conflict-stricken Darfur region on Saturday, killing one Nigerian soldier and wounding three, the UN said.
UN leader Ban Ki-moon strongly condemned the attack on the patrol in South Darfur and called on the Sudanese government to carry out a speedy investigation.
The joint UN-AU Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) said the attack was staged around midday, some 60 kilometres (35 miles) northwest of El Daein in South Darfur.
"We don't know who was behind it," Christopher Cycmanick, a spokesman for the mission, told AFP.
He said one of the three wounded was in serious condition.
More than 30 peacekeepers have been killed in Darfur since the UN-AU mission started in 2007.
UN spokesman Martin Nesirky said the dead soldier was Nigerian in a statement in which he said Ban "condemns in the strongest terms the ambush by an unidentified armed group."
"The secretary general urges the government of Sudan to carry out a speedy investigation and to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice."
UNAMID head Ibrahim Gambari has called such attacks a war crime and said the Khartoum government should do "much more" to catch the perpetrators.
Darfur's African rebel groups rose up against the Arab-dominated Khartoum government in 2003.
The UN estimates that at least 300,000 people have died because of the conflict since then, with about 300 killed in armed clashes last year. The government puts the total number of dead at 10,000.
An estimated 1.9 million people are living in camps for those displaced by the conflict, the UN says.
The government last year signed in Doha a peace deal with an alliance of rebel splinter factions, but key rebel groups refused to sign.
Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir is wanted by the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocide in Darfur.

“The UBTH team battled to save the victim but all their efforts failed. The victim died a few days ago. We thought we would be able to get information on how he came about the explosive used then, but that plan failed”, a security source confided in the Nigerian Tribune.

A bomb had exploded the main mosque at Hausa Quarters in Sapele on December 10, last year injuring Buzu who was alone in the premises as early as 5.10 a.m.

The incident was suspected to have been masterminded by a Boko Haram member but security agents tried to under play the incident.

Oil Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke's son Ugonna Madueke responds to online publication of personal photos

Last week there were pictures of the flashy lifestyle of Ugonna Madueke, the step son of Dieziani Allison-Madueke, the Minister of Petroleum. Private jets, limousine rides, hobnobbing with the rich and famous, showing off cash etc etc. The response from the public have been incredibly negative. I guess people were angry that he was basking in luxury while millions of Nigerians suffer, especially after the increase in fuel prizes...partly blamed on his step mum, Dieziani. This was his own response.

Re: A wicked attack on my person via internet photographs. - Ugonna Madueke

It was with great dismay that I awoke a few days ago to see the pictorial publications being circulated about my family and me by the on-line media. It has stirred up a great deal of controversy and has portrayed our family in a negative light.
The pictures posted were taken over a period of time, some before my mother left the private sector as an ED at Shell to work for the Nigerian government. Although I benefited from a comfortable upbringing I was raised in a fairly strict environment by a military father who insisted that we worked to support ourselves whilst in school. He ensured that we had the basic minimum to support us covering tuition food and transport only.

We were all compelled to work to support ourselves and at the same time excel academically. I am a fully qualified engineer who has worked in my area of expertise for the last 2 and half years. I work very hard at my job and like many people across the globe I also party hard.

The pictures of my brother with Neyo and Dbanj are typical of the way any young man or woman will react getting somewhat excited when they run into stars whether they be home grown or international. Most people will be more than happy to have their photograph taken with them.

As far as the limo ride goes, they are commonly used as airport taxis overseas. Occasionally myself along with my friends and family chip in to pay approx $100 from the airport to our destination. To put this in context it is approximately N16, 500. There were 6 of us in the limo ride, which worked out to be roughly N2000 per head.

With regards to the picture of me in the airplane, which by the way was shot almost 2 years ago, the explanation is really quite simple. I was in America to attend the wedding of an old classmate whose parents had chartered a small aircraft to take some of the bride's closest friends and family to the destination. I did what anyone in my shoes would do and took a picture, Facebook is a testament to that.

It has been alleged that my family flew to America to attend a party, The event we attended was the Chris Aire event for the unveiling of NIGERIA’S GEM STONES with my Mother in her capacity as the then Minister of Mines & Steel. It was an event designed to promote Nigerian Gem stones.

The picture of us on the Red Carpet as we attended the event has also being published. I struggle to fully understand how something that was intended to showcase Nigerian talent and products is now seen as wrong. She also honoured an invitation at the London Stock Exchange to make a presentation; a clear indication that the Gemstone event at Los Angeles had started attracting foreign investors.

The picture showing members of my university fraternity and I holding some money was taken several years ago, while I was an undergraduate. It was a requirement of the society that we documented our fund raising success for a charitable course on behalf of the society I belonged to in the university. The society is called Alpha – Phi – Alpha University of Maryland Chapter.

Like any young man, I have had my fair share of fun, hanging out and partying I am grateful for the upbringing that I have had. This does not however mean I am immune from the realities of the plight of millions of Nigerians living at or below the poverty line. If the pictures (published out of context) were intended to portray me or my family as insensitive to the plight of millions of Nigerians I can honestly state that this is by no means who we are.

What this has taught me however is that, with positions of privilege and leadership come humility and responsibility not only by those in leadership but members of their extended family also.

I sincerely apologise to my family and the Nigerian public for any hurt, anger or embarrassment that might have been caused by these pictures, which were taken completely out of context. I will endeavor to ensure that all my actions in future will be sensitive to the plight of all.

However I have absolutely no control over this well orchestrated smear campaign, which is mainly directed at my mother, I therefore appeal to Nigerians not to take everything they see or read at face value. Oil Minister Double Standards: Photos Of Son’s Private Jet Lifestyle
