You’ve seen all kinds of wedding albums but I bet you haven’t seen one quite like this. You are cordially invited to view the wedding album of the Ken & Barbie dolls (for the sake of this post they shall be referred to as Kunle & Bimbo…LOL!) as they perform their traditional Yoruba wedding ceremony in front of family and friends, complete with colourful aso ebi, decor & an alaga (MC representing Bride’s family).
This unique concept was by photographer Obi Nwokedi and his wife. Obi was inspired to do the shoot primarily out of boredom after coming across French photographer Beatrices’ Barbie and Kens’ wedding shoot, and with some inspiration from the black Barbie shoot on Italian Vogue he decided to create a Nigerian Traditional wedding shoot with black Barbie and Ken. The entire shoot took 5 months to complete because he had to source intricate barbie accessories from around the world. His wife designed all the cute little outfits.
